National Rose Month: Day 2

“I love to prune my roses. That’s the one thing I really feel I do pretty well. Other things I usually, because I travel so much, leave to my gardeners who know what I love. But I do love to prune them, because you forget everything else. It’s like if you’re a painter, you can forget everything else while you’re doing it.”

—Julie Andrews

Peach Roses
● Sold (7 x 5 inches, oil on panel)

Painting  and pruning roses is like meditation to me. I forget everything else and get lost in their beauty. This painting has found its forever home, but I love the color and delicate softness and the use of lost and found edges in this piece.
