Bridge at Norfolk Botanical Garden, Pastel Drawing

Our family loves to head to Virginia Beach for a quick vacay! While the guys are exploring the zip lines and obstacles at the Adventure Park—I headed off to the Norfolk botanical gardens for a bit of painting time.

The Norfolk Botanical Gardens features 175 acres of more than 60 distinctive themed gardens, including our World of Wonders, A Children’s Adventure Garden – a 3-acre garden where kids explore the connections between plants, international culture and the environment. You can explore by foot, take a tram or even a boat ride to explore the vast beauty of the gardens.

Today I decided to try my hand at pastels (a bit out of my element, as oils and watercolor are more my forte!) While I was trying to capture the scene before me a praying mantis decided to join me!  I think he enjoyed the view as much as I did!
